Axle CV Joint Driveshaft Repairs

Driveshaft

The Central Velocity (CV) axles, CV joints, and Driveshaft are integral to the performance and drivability of your vehicle.

Purpose of CV Axles, Joints & Driveshaft

CV Axles: Constant Velocity axles, also known as drive axles, play a vital role in transmitting power from the transmission to the wheels while accommodating the vertical motion of the suspension and the steering angles during turns. CV axles must bear the weight of the vehicle and sustain brake and acceleration forces.

CV Joints: Constant Velocity joints allow the transfer of power to the wheels while accommodating the varying angles and movements associated with steering and suspension. These joints maintain a constant velocity as the axle moves, providing a smooth and efficient transfer of power from the transmission to the wheels, even when the vehicle is turning or encountering uneven terrain. This design helps prevent power loss while allowing the necessary range of motion in the suspension system.

Driveshaft: Steel or aluminum cylindrical component that connects the transmission to the rear differential through the CV joints. Its purpose is to transmit rotational power from the transmission to the differential, allowing the wheels to receive the necessary torque to move forward.

Over time and through regular use of your vehicle, these parts may require maintenance or replacement.
